MULCH QUESTIONS
What type of mulch does Stoneleaf install?

We install premium, dye-free or naturally enriched dark triple-shred hardwood bark mulch that decomposes into rich organic compost and resists fading and wind washouts.

How deep should mulch be applied in garden beds?

We apply mulch at a uniform 2.5 to 3-inch depth. This is the scientifically proven depth to suppress weeds, insulate perennial roots against summer heat, and retain soil moisture.

What is "volcano mulching" and why do you avoid it?

Volcano mulching is piling mulch high against tree trunks, which suffocates the bark and invites rot and insect boring. Stoneleaf keeps mulch pulled back 2–3 inches from the trunk flare so the tree can breathe naturally.
